At last, it’s arrived, Nigella’s new book hit our doorstep this morning. We’ve been really excited about this since May when Nigella was doing the photo shoots and we spent a lot of time scavenging for any Christmas stock left over from Christmas to send to her for the shoot. Problem was that most of our Christmas stock doesn’t land in the UK until September so we could only send her what we could find in kits or leftover from last year, we didn’t even have time to have anything shipped over for her as she was right in the middle of the shoot with frantic phone calls with her lovely PA Zoe.
Anyway, the book’s fantastic and the glitter and gold stars on the chocolate Christmas cake look fantastic - great photographer. We’ve got these in stock now if you need them along with lilac and silver stars and heaps of different coloured glitter too. We’ve also got most of our Christmas stock in with some still arriving over the next few weeks and the kitchen and most of my house smell of gingerbread as the gingerbread house orders are starting up too.
If you can’t find what you want on the site (within reason!) give us a call or email, you never we just may be able to get it for you.

Brides Magazine’s November/December features Splat Cookery School’s Wedding Favours workhops on page 75 as well as using our glitter in the Winter Wonderland cupcakes on page 66. Brides thought the workshops were fabulous as we’ll tailor the whole workshop to exactly what the Bride wants to achieve from colour scheme to flowers and at the end she’ll come away with the skills to make her own wedding favours or cupcakes with the effects she wants to make a dramatic difference to her big day.

I nicked out on Sunday afternoon as my youngest daughter had been invited to a cooking party - run by Splat - and the Mums had all been invited to stay for champagne, heaven. I did feel for the two Emmas who were running the party, with boss staying and checking out what they were doing but they were brilliant. I’ve never been to one of our parties as just a Mum, I’ve always been running them so this was real treat. Elizabeth asked me today if there was anything I’d do differently and there wasn’t, it ran smoothly, the children had a great time and Mum was happy.
While I was out of the house my son, aged 6, decided to make Millionaire’s Shortbread, he’d already done it at Cooking Club at school with me last week and quite wisely asked his big sister to help him rather than his Dad (!). When we got back home there was the most yummy Millionaire’s Shortbread waiting for us with homemade butterscotch sauce which eldest daughter had then used to make toffee apple crumble and left just sufficient to pour over ice cream. Husband was genuinely impressed and the food was yummy.
Very clever children.

Photo of the finished cake, it was really nice, lovely and light, not burnt on the bottom which I feared would happen, the muffins were great, really, really easy. No more excuses for not making cakes when camping now!

Barbeque Birthday Cake
My daughter’s 12th birthday was while we were on holiday on the Ile de Re in France this summer and I had to figure out how to make her a birthday cake in the tent, or rather outside the tent. Not sure if it would work but had a go anyway.
